Description

A beautiful tour through the small towns of Prata Camportaccio, Chiavenna and Piuro.

A challenging day, which includes two main climbs: the first one up to Pratella di Prata (990 m), with 30 hairpin bends on a cement and gravel road with significant gradients, a challenge that will be rewarded with a descent featuring a flow section at the beginning, a central part including technical sections with steps and narrow passages, and the last part which becomes faster once again.

The second ascent from Prata Camportaccio, more rideable and smoother than the first, will take us in the direction of Uschione, though climbing higher to reach Belvedere, a panoramic terrace over Valchiavenna at an altitude of 1230 m. From here the second descent of the day to Lotteno, and then a part of the previous ascent (about 2.5 km) to Uschione, one of the prettiest mid-altitude villages of Valchiavenna, once permanently inhabited and today still preserving wonderful houses that blend in perfectly with the landscape. It is possible to have lunch at the refuge in the centre of the village.

The last descent of the day then continues down to Prosto, along a trail characterised by a succession of hairpin bends in the woods and technical sections, narrow passages on "soapstone", typical of the Marmitte dei Giganti Park.

A demanding tour, but one that guarantees great satisfaction!

It is possible to reduce the height difference by shortening the second climb by about 600 m.
